Tahoe Summer fun at Baldwin Beach

photo (3)As summer rolls along in Lake Tahoe the good times continue. One of the hidden gems is Balwin Beach. With beautiful sandy beach, picturesque meadow full of wildflowers and Mt Tallac as a back drop Baldwin offers great recreation opportunities. While visiting Tahoe and looking for your dream vacation home take an afternoon to enjoy all Baldwin beach has to offer. One the hidden secrets kids enjoy is an area where Spring Creek runs into the lake. Over the past few years this has become an area with bulfrogs, catfish and large bullfrog tadpoles. The kids will love the adventure.

The audiience alsways has a great time interacting with the celebrity golfers and getting autographs from their favorites. The tourney starts Tuesday and goes through the weekend. Come to Tahoe and join us for a great time!

Our Buddy Wesley passes away

photo (1)photo (2)

On Friday July 12th our long time companion Wesley passed away at Sierra Veterinary hospital. Our companion of almost 14 years had come to the end of his well lived life. He was an incredible companion, watch dog, swimmer, ball chaser, protector, and best friend to our whole family and his long time companion Major. Our house feels emptier without Wes to greet us in the morning. Thanks for all the great years Buddy!

Mathews kids dress up for 4th of July

IMG_4177 Getting in the spirit for the 4th of July celebration my kids put on their best red, white and blue outfits to celebrate independence day. Our north Upper Truckee neighborhood hosts an anuual parade and the kids decorated their bikes and scooters to cruise in the parade. There were approximately 100 people in the parade including numerous neighborhood kids. After the fire the neighborhood has blossomed into one of Tahoe’s nicest neighborhoods with all brand new homes lining the streets.

North Upper Truckee Neighborhood celebrates 4th of July with Parade

Celebrating 6 years since the Angora fire residents of this strong resilient neighborhood celebrated the annual 4th of July parade. Most residents agreed that this was the largest showing for the parade since it’s inception. The neighborhood has mostly been rebuilt and now hosts a large contingent of local families including mine. My wife and 5 kids were dressed in red, white and blue to celebrate the holiday. The parade was followed by a potluck BBQ and several neighborhood parties. If you are looking for a great family neighborhood I would highly recommend this great North Upper Truckee neighborhood that has blossomed after the devastating Angora fire.

A Day in Paradise draws large crowds to Tahoe Paradise Park

This past Saturday the local Optimist Club hosted it’s annual Day in Paradise event at Tahoe Paradise Park. The event featured all you can eat pancake breakfast, classic car show. rib cook off, fun games and prizes for the kids and the main event which is the annual duck  races. Local band Deep Fried Mojo performed for the crowd all afternoon. A large local crowd came out to enjoy the event. The weather was perfect and many participants ended up going into the Truckee River to retrieve the ducks at the finish line. If you didn’t make it out this year mark your calendars for next year as more entertaining options will be added. I hope to see you there. Thanks to our local Optimist Club for holding such a great event!

Another Beautiful Day To Live In Lake Tahoe

After several days of thunder showers the skies have cleared and we have blue bird conditions once again. The rain was refreshing and cleared the pollen form the air and made the biking trails perfect for mountain biking. Early season thunderstorms make a spectacular weather phenomenon in Lake Tahoe.
